FUNERAL SERVICES - DEATH OCCURS IN HOSPITAL OR HOME

Death Occurs in Hospital:

If death occurs in a hospital due to natural causes and without any complications, the hospital will release the body within an hour or two, but only if the funeral home is ready to pick up the body. Note that Delaware law requires that only a licensed funeral home can pick up the dead body. The Islamic Society of Delaware has arrangements with McCrery Funeral Home on Kirkwood Highway (it has another location on Route 202 in Wilmington); please contact Mr. Nicholas D. Picollelli, the funeral director, at (302) 478-2204.

Death Occurs at Home:

If death occurs at home, please contact your family doctor immediately, since according to state law, only a licensed medical doctor can certify a death officially. Without a doctor's certification, the funeral home will not pick up the body and the State of Delaware will not issue the death certificate, which is required by the cemetery for the burial to take place.

The Islamic Society of Delaware has negotiated the following cost arrangement for basic services with the McCrery Funeral Home and the Silverbrook Cemetery.
