2020 ISD President: Br. Mohamed Allimullah

In the name of Allah (s), the Beneficent the Merciful

Dear Respected ISD Community Members,

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,

While Allah (swt) made 2020 a challenging year for us, we remained committed to our vision: “To be a leader in providing Islamic guidance and services that contributes to the betterment of the Muslim community”. Alhamdulillah, we have also crafted a long-term strategy to ensure the future success of our organization. This strategy is founded in our mission: “To foster the continuous development of Muslims though worship, education, service, outreach, engagement and charity”.

Our community has grown exponentially over the years and we pivoted to ensure our ability to meet the religious and spiritual needs of everyone. We did this by coming up with innovative ways to deliver our quality programs. All our programs are online (Weekly Tafseer, Seerah and Fiqh sessions, our weekend Sunday School and QAD school, to name a few) and we used a data driven approach to ensure maximum reach. ISD and Masjid Ibraheem is focused on connecting us with our deen, tackling contemporary issues, reaching out to those in need and bringing the community together as one.

Last year with the help of our community’s continued support and generous contributions, ISD purchased two properties in Elkton and Middletown to establish additional ISD branches. This will help serve the growing Muslim population in both those communities Insha’Allah. In addition, we also purchased two properties on Salem Church Rd as part of our efforts to expand the crown jewel of ISD, the Islamic Academy of Delaware (IAD).

Alhamdulillah the tireless work of our volunteers has led to significant accomplishments. We hope to have the Elkton Masjid completed in this year (2021) and the useable land for the Middletown property (home to the future “Al-Noor Masjid”) was increased from ~2 acres to ~10 acers (out of total 20 acers), we are working on getting necessary county approvals to start prayer services at Al-Noor Masjid.

As noted earlier in the year, by the grace of Allah (SWT) we have also completed the construction of our cemetery, As-Salaam Garden. We are now working on expanding the services we are able to offer (funeral home facilities). Insha’Allah, in the coming days we will update the community on its progress.

ISD has also established itself as a strong interfaith partner in the region. Working with other interfaith and civic organizations, we have successfully participated in cross denominational dialogues and round tables to bring awareness about our faith.

Last but not least, in our continued efforts to achieve operational excellence (and to contribute to environmental sustainability), we were able to partner with a leader in solar energy to complete a transformative solar project. This project will Insha’Allah reduce our electricity costs by 50% for the next 20 plus years with an annual savings of more than $5,000 and it demonstrates our commitment to renewable energy and our environment.

All these achievements wouldn’t be possible without the blessings of Allah (SWT) and your continued support/help. We invite you to get involved with ISD by becoming a member and by contributing to our community. We need your energy, enthusiasm, skills and expertise to ensure the future success of our beloved ISD.

Please remember us in your duas and may Allah (SWT) continue to bless this community.

YEAR END MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

2019 ISD President: Br. Mohamed Allimullah

In the name of Allah (SWT), the Beneficent the Merciful

Dear Respected ISD Community Members,Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,

Alhamdulilah, our community has been growing exponentially over the years and so is our Masjid, it is a vibrant and an inclusive place for all, Ma’Sha’Allah. By the blessing of Allah (SWT) and with the support of our volunteers and congregation, it has become a beacon of light for the Muslims in the tri-state area. It strives to cater to everyone’s needs - the young, the wise, the sporty or the academic, both male and female. It is a Masjid that is focused on connecting us with our Deen, tackling contemporary issues, reaching out to those in need and it undoubtedly brings the community together as one.

To support this community’s growth Alhamdulilah, last year with the help of our community’s continued support and generous contributions, ISD purchased two properties in Elkton and Middletown to establish additional ISD branches for our brothers and sisters in these areas and we are in the process of getting necessary approvals to start using these places.

The design phase of the Middletown Masjid project for an initial change of use from Residence to Masjid is in progress, while we are waiting for county permit to start congregations, we have completed several maintenance works, such as Indoor cleaning, flooring updates, landscape maintenance, roof cleaning, basement flood remediation, basement water proofing, installation of a new sump pump, new water heater, HVAC system repair and water treatment systems. Additionally, the wetland, building, and land surveys have been completed at the Middletown property. The engineering consulting firm is preparing plans to submit survey reports to the county to receive necessary approvals.

Elkton Masjid renovation work was also started two months ago. The general contractor is working on renovating the exterior and interior of the building including walls, flooring, etc. about 30% of work is completed, soon plumbing (for bathroom, etc.) and electrical work will start. In’Sha’Allah the renovation work is anticipated to be completed by February-March 2020.

For a long time, our community dreamed of owning a Muslim cemetery for Muslim of Delaware and its vicinity. Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah (SWT) we not only own a Muslim cemetery, soon we will start using the cemetery. In the month of November 2019, we started construction work and we anticipate that it will take 10 to 12 weeks to complete phase I of construction. The construction includes site improvements which are required by the county township and Chester county conservation district/PA department of environmental protection. After approval of construction, the site will be ready to receive burials in February-March 2020. We are also actively pursuing to build our own Muslim Funeral home. This will benefit our community in significantly reducing the burial cost. In’Sha’Allah, in coming days we will update our community on the progress of the funeral home.

As part of our ISD/ IAD expansion, Alhamdulillah we are in the process of buying two properties on Salem Church Road opposite to Salem village shopping center. These are two adjacent properties ideal for IAD expansion. Alhamdulillah due-diligence work for purchasing both properties is nearing completion. So far, the research/investigations done indicated that these properties will be suitable for our intended school/Masjid uses. We anticipate closing on both of these properties in first quarter of 2020.

As you already know ISD provide many services that includes religious education, healthy living workshops, health clinics, women’s education, CPR training, blood drives, food for the needy, financial assistance to community members in dire need for life essentials such as food, lodging, etc. Our ongoing monthly family halaqa (lectures) conducted by our beloved Imam Shiekh Abdelhadi to educate the community on various important religious topics of interest to the community. We have already established an ISD Community WhatsApp group which provides us with a platform to share with our community, Shiekh Abdelhadi’s halaqas (weekly, monthly) and Friday Khutbahs; and other important information. This year, we implemented a new program for our senior members of the community.

As a community, we are very proud to own two satellite Masajids, a cemetery and soon additional two (2) properties for IAD expansion. All these achievements wouldn’t be possible without the blessings of Allah (SWT) and your continued support/help. We request you to actively get involved with ISD by becoming the member and serve on the board. ISD needs volunteers, we need your skills and expertise to make this organization better, THIS IS YOUR ORGANIZATION!

May Allah (SWT) bless this community and keep us united.

Please remember us in your duas
